Description:

GIBSON CITATION Acoustic Electric Archtop Jazz Guitar * Mint Museum Masterpiece * Since its introduction in 1969, the Citation has been at the top of Gibson's magnificent line of Acoustic Electric Archtop Jazz Guitars. The guitar had a 17" full depth body, a floating pickup, sleek fancy inlays, were made in natural or sunburst colors, and only about 8 to 10 Citation guitars were shipped during this period. The Gibson Citation, like certain classic cars, was too expensive to produce and its market price was very high, and production ended in 1971. However due to its popularity, in 1979, Gibson reintroduced the reissue of the [removed phone] model with the same specs and features. These Gibson Citation reissues were produced through 1983. From 1993 to present, Gibson debuted a 3rd reissue of the classic Citation and is now part of Gibson's Historic Collection. From 1994 until present, Gibson makes the Citation only on special orders. Besides its astounding looks, throughout the years the Gibson Citation is known to be one of the finest handmade carved guitars made by Gibson. This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the rare guitar collector to own one of the limited edition Gibson Citation guitars. This example was made in the Gibson Custom Shop in 2002. It is a magnificent piece of the guitar-maker's craft, and has been played only for tuning purposes, then displayed in a high-end collection. Finish is a light amber sunburst, AAAAA Fig Maple back, sides and neck, Abalone cloud inlays on ebony fingerboard, gold hardware, engraved tuners, seven-ply body binding, bound headstock front and back. Look closely at the remarkable detailing on this musical treasure. Included is a custom-made professional case in black leather and crushed velvet inside. Case shows a few scuffs from storage.
