My custom-built HTPC (see pictures) is housed in a Black Zalman HD-160 case, in which the black brushed aluminum finish gives off the complete polished home theater look and feel! This machine is perfect as a home server or DVD/Media Player for the dorm room or home.
I've been building up a Home Theater PC to use as a DVR project, as well as a home mp3/audio/video/DVD server. I must part with this project, since I am now using the Cox provided DVR.
Keep in mind that the HTPC case alone runs $200-$225 retail, so you are saving a potential $300+ with all of the components already installed! It runs Windows Vista Ultimate smoothly, and plays DVDs without the need for additional applications.
This PC also serves well as a budget desktop machine.
