This drive s great very sturdy, compact, portable and stylish. A great gift too for personal office or students. This external hard drive is amazing! Just plug it in and Go! Auto syncs with time machine, or you can op out to just pick the files you want. I use it to work on large projects at school that a flash drive can't handle. USB 3.0 isn't really being used at my school and neither my macbook pro nor my imac have it, so the firewire is spectacular! I dragged and dropped some iMovie events and backup my Aperture library and was easy. This little wonder works flawlessly with my 2011 Core i7 MacBook Pro. I use it for Time Machine backups, and I use the 800 MB/s Firewire option rather than USB2. I tried another hard drive made by another manufacturer, but it would always freeze shortly after the backup started. It was a disaster. I actually swapped out MacBooks because I was 'sure' that it was the Mac rather than the hard drive. But on a whim I decided to try this Iomega drive and voila! Very happy with the performance and the attractive red finish. The red color is dark and beautiful. It is super quiet. Sitting a foot or two away from it, you should barely hear it, if at all. I use mine as a Time Machine, which backs up my hard drive every hour. It doesn't keep spinning down and spinning back up every hour as other hard drives do. It stays nice and cool and does not run hot. It works with USB and also you can daisy chain with Firewire. I have it connected to my MBP via Firewire 800, and I have a Firewire 400 external hard drive connected to the Iomega. NOTE
