1964 Deluxe Reverb - Vintage in Plant City, FL
Description:
This is a 1964 chassis inside of what I believe to be an overhauled original cabinet, or maybe a more recent cabinet though still pretty old, it's hard to tell. Transformers appear to be original other than the OT which is from 1968.
I bought this a few months ago and it was in good shape, but needed a little work. I took it to an amp tech to have it brought up to spec and dropped about $500 in parts and labor to get this back into good condition. The previous owner had some wrong value caps and resistors in it, there was also some trouble with the vibrato circuit. All of that has been fixed. All caps were replaced, all internal connections were re-soldered to ensure good connectivity, all jacks/pots/sockets were cleaned with De-Oxit. New tubes were biased and play tested and everything is functioning as normal. I have the invoice for this work too, and will include that with the sale so you can have records.
I had the rectifier tube and both 6L6 power tubes replaced, along with a few of the pre-amp tubes. New tubes are Mesa Boogie, which I believe are rebranded Sovtek, but I'm not sure. I also had the reverb cables and speaker cables replaced with Mojotone cables for a more correct look.
The speaker needs to be replaced. It isn't original, but something is up with it. It sounds fine most of the time, but there are some weird overtones on certain frequencies. The tech suggested it's replacement but I decided to leave it alone for now. If I were keeping this I'd swap in a Weber anyway, this speaker installed isn't intended to handle the power long term.
I am not a Fender amp expert, so I hope the pictures help tell the story. Bottom line is, it is still a 1964 and will continue to provide great tone and hold value for years to come, even if it's not a museum piece, this is a players amp. The amp and all controls work fine, there is a little noise in the pots when turning, but that is pretty normal for an old amp.
I'm selling this mainly because I already have too many amps, and I'm looking to get another one soon, so I'm trying to make room.
